Enhancing the Picture with a 14-Bit Internal Video Processor
The Regza series of televisions from Toshiba promise a smoother gradation of up to 16 times that of a conventional 8-bit processor which makes for a smoother, clearer image. This feature is known as PixelPure5G which is the fifth generation of image processors that have been used in Toshiba video processors.
But the series of Toshiba LCD HDTV’s offered range from well under $300 to $3,000. If you just need a 19″ television to view in a bedroom, connect to your PC or play games using the gaming mode, Toshiba offers a lower price option here. It comes with a digital tuner and viewing quality of 720p. This might be just what is needed for that starter office or student dorm.
And for more sophisticated viewing, the Regza series offers a system called ClearScan 240 which is enhanced 120Hz Anti-Blur Technology. The 240Hz effect is improved viewing for high speed sports and fast motion movies and creates a clearer picture than conventional 60Hz or even 120Hz pictures.
Also offered in the Toshiba LCD HDTV family is a feature called AutoView which automatically adjusts the viewing parameters based on the lighting conditions within the viewing room. Afternoon sunlight requires a much brighter picture but that setting would be very uncomfortable to the eyes in a darkened nighttime situation. This feature will automatically make the necessary corrections.
Toshiba also offers a considerable range of LCD HDTV/DVD Combo units that could be just what is needed for short trips or a stay at the weekend cottage. This type of unit is also a very practical tool for entertaining a small group of youngsters with their favorite cartoon characters or other discs suitable for viewing by the younger crowd. The product offering is currently 14 models ranging from 15″ to 26″ and with a price range of $280-500.
